Gino Meehleib began his studies of Aikido in 1991 under the teaching of Frank Doran Shihan. Since that time he has continued his training at Aikido West. Gino currently possesses the rank of Yondan (fourth degree black belt), which was awarded to him by Doran sensei in 2007.
Gino’s training and teaching approach is not common to most, focusing on developing martially effective technique while holding on to the nonviolent principles of Aikido. Those that influence his knowledge are teachers like Mitsugi Saotome, Haruo Matsuoka, Royce Shima, and especially Frank Doran.
Always looking to expand his martial arts knowledge, Gino actively trains in different disciplines such as Filipino martial arts.
